Aakash unveiled – The low cost tablet

The news is all about India’s Low-cost tablet “Aakash”  launched last Wednesday . Aakash is designed , developed and manufactured by DataWind (Canadian Company), in partnership with an educational institution, IIT Rajasthan. The tablet is priced at 2250 INR to be distributed at a subsidy to college students (around 1125 INR ).

Configuration goes like this

7-inch display with 800-by-480 pixel resolution
256MB RAM
2GB flash storage
366MHz processor from Connexan
Dimensions: 190.5×118.5×15.7mm
Connectivity: WiFi, 2  USB 2.0 ports. No 3G

The tablet runs the Android 2.2 FROYO operating system.

According to Datawind , the tablet is adequate for most applications including HD quality video, reading books, and basic office applications.

Above sounds good . But we need to really wait and see when the product gets rolled out . If it happens any sooner , will be a boon to students and we can call it a Milestone then …
Yeah Yeah I know , forget about the design …  🙂

Thats a nice review of this new (budget ) – tablet.

Though the price of this Tablet makes it affordable for each and every student, the current Internet Usage Costs might still make it difficult, for the student community to get the complete benefit out of this device.

    366MHz Processor ?… Does it blend ?

But when it will be launched ? I’ve been seeing this guy showing the tablet for a while now.

2 usb ports are great add-on for tablets. Every tablet should have usb ports and inbuilt default drivers for connecting printers and other usb devices.

iPad 3 with thunder bolt!!!. No matter what and how much they are. no doubt!

    R.I.P Steve.

    Steve still rocks

Subsidized pricing sounds good. But as said , we should see this thing rolling out from the government . If done successfully there is no doubt students will benefit from this.
