Design and Build

On the first look, it is an attracter. It feels truly premium and no wonder will kindle some envy from your friends and foes. With metal and glass combination, it is indeed a seamless design. With the well rounded corning 2.5 D glass that found on the front and the back gives the much needed attention and the protection I would say . Impressive.

The ASUS Zenfone 3 comes loaded with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz bundled up with an Adreno 506 GPU .  You get 32GB of internal storage, with around 23 GB  is free to use.. ASUS is also offering 100GB of free cloud storage space for two years  in collaboration with Google.

The Zenfone 3 supports a hybrid SIM slot that can take one Nano SIM and a Micro SIM  . If you are a single SIM user you have the option to expand storage with a  microSD card. While both SIMs support 3G/4G, only one can connect to 3G/4G networks at a time. Supports OTG. Audio through the single speaker is good.
Comes with a Fingerprint scanner . It is fast and super responsive.

With the 5.2 inch full HD display, the Zenfone 3 has one of the best displays I have come across. Screen to body ratio is 75.6 %  and the display comes with smudge resistant oleophobic coating. The colours are natural  across various lighting conditions. The colour reproduction is good and the picture is sharp and  vivid. Overall display was bright and clear.  Display works well in indoors and also under direct sunlight. It will for sure give you a good movie watching experience.

With a  Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 clocked at 2 GHZ , the Zenfone 3’s performance is impressive .

The phone handles whatever you throw at it with ease. Be it everyday tasks such as browsing chatting, social media , videos multitasking  or gaming It is snappy . On the gaming front handles some high end titles with ease.  Games such  as Nova 3 , asphalt 8 , Tombraider , Gods of Rome, etc, ran smooth without hiccups.  So if you are a gamer you will be delighted. To add  to the fun it comes with most of the sensors you need accelerometer, compass ,light , Gyroscrope ,proximity  you name it.Overall on the performance part  am happy

Next is the Camera   – On the front we get a 8 MP shooter is pretty good at taking selfies. The 16 MP rear camera has an f/2.0 aperture with laser auto focus system that helps to focus on the subject really quick. There’s also Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) which comes handy while holding in hands.  Even in poor lighting conditions the rear camera was able to capture some blur-free pictures.   You can shoot upto 4k videos with this. The camera app on the ZenFone 3 comes with a lot of options and camera modes to choose from.. Here are some sample shots raw unedited…

Overall on the camera  I am impressed.

Asus Zenfone 3 comes loaded with Android marshmallow  out of the box with the ZenUI on top. The interface is smooth with no lags,  light weight and well optimized to keep the performance level top notch.
Given the specs and a massive 3 gb ram , interface is smooth and responsive.  RAM management is good.

Next comes the battery. Even though  it comes with the 2650 mAh battery,  I was able to pull it up  for  one day with moderate gaming, chatting, multitasking,  social media etc .  The software is optimized and also has a lot of battery saving options . The battery can also be fast-charged.  At this price point ,  a large capacity battery would have been a good choice.

Now  summing it up , even though the Asus Zenfone 3 comes with a hefty price tag which is not competitive given the fact you get smartphones with high end specs in this range. However  you can consider this in case if you are looking for a premium-looking phone with  a jaw-dropping design and off-course with a decent performance.
